DREAM MAKER
Having had a successful 16 year career in television back in my native Romania, but no degree or academic qualification, I decided now it is the time to settle the things . When I was younger, I had planned to become an actor and I was indeed. But I felt I could do more and so I approached television. After a relatively rapid career progression, I was fortunate enough to have a superb position as editor, anchor and documentary maker within the Romanian Television. Within a few years though, I realised that my career was could have been more accomplished had I have a degree in the field. This is why I am here, today!
More recently, I have become increasingly intrigued by the new wave of technology that is becoming more integrated into our daily lives. I am particularly interested in all aspects of post-production for both television and movies. My goal is to master a whole range of dedicated software so much so that when - after graduation - I will found my own production company to be able to access most of the jobs in the industry for as many clients as possible.
To ensure I have experience and understanding of the industry, I have become a student member of The Royal Television Society. I have also applied for an internship at Comedy Central UK and I was shortlisted for an interview.
Returning to education has been an exhilarating experience. Although a little apprehensive prior to the start of my course, caused by the gap between my knowledge and the latest, most advanced post-production technologies and software I have thoroughly enjoyed studying computer graphics, editing as well as returning in a state of the art TV studio like the new one in the White Swan building. Most important, I do enjoy being again behind the camera, this time with enhanced skills regarding script writing, lighting and directing. Whilst researching how to return to education, I discovered early on that the Television and Broadcasting course is very rigorous and the knowledge I will get from it means a passport for freedom, creativity and - possibly - fame.
Outside of academics and my career, I enjoy several hobbies. I am a keen gym-goer, swimmer and boxer. I also enjoy playing different roles in student movies and have been involved in few such productions. My other passions are photography, classical music and classic cars.
